Drug Offences

The stakes are very high for individuals charged with drug offences.

The illicit drug economy pervades nearly every aspect of our society. As such, individuals can find themselves facing drug charges by merely being a passenger in a vehicle or a brief visitor at a residence.

It is important to know that you are protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The police may have violated your rights during their investigation. A Charter-based defence can result in an acquittal for you.

Whether the charges involve simple possession, trafficking, production or conspiracy, it is important that you are aware of your rights and the defences available to you.

An effective trial lawyer can be the difference between an acquittal or conviction.

Impaired Driving Offences

Being charged with an impaired driving offence can cause a significant amount of stress in your life.

A conviction means the loss of the ability to drive and a criminal record. This can have a significant impact on your employment, personal life, and family.

One of the first questions you need answered is whether or not to invest your money into fighting the allegation at trial.

Skilled legal counsel can provide a sound and sophisticated answer to this question.

It is also important to remember that impaired driving investigations will engage your Charter-protected legal rights under section 8, 9, 10 (a) and (b).

A violation of your Charter rights can result in an acquittal at trial.

The law of impaired driving can be very complex. A successful defence may be equally complex.

A skilled trial lawyer can apply their experience and creativity to achieve you the best outcome.

Domestic Violence Allegations

Being charged with domestic violence offence can derail your life. Your life can dramatically change even though the allegations may be fabricated or exaggerated.

Or maybe you have made a mistake that you completely regret.

This type of allegation is not uncommon, as relationships are complicated and are the source of intense emotions.

In certain circumstances, charges can be dropped before a matter ends up in a trial Court.

In other circumstances, the only option is to fight the allegations at trial.

A skilled trial lawyer is an asset to you in these difficult circumstances.

Firearm Offences

The use and/or possession of firearms can bring you to the attention of the police, even though you may have not done anything illegal.

Storage and classification of firearms can be a very technical area of the law.

A skilled trial lawyer can apply their knowledge and experience in this technical area to get you the best outcome.

Criminal Forfeiture Property

In certain circumstances, the Crown may be seeking to seize and forfeit your money, home, vehicle or other property.

The law of criminal property forfeiture is complex.

When the stakes are high, it is important to know you rights and be able to defend them in Court.

Allegations of Assault & Violence

Allegations involving assault and violence can result in a criminal record and the possibility of serious jail time.

The allegations may be false, exaggerated or you may have defended yourself in a dangerous situation.

In certain circumstances, pre-trial negotiations can result in charges being dropped before trial.

In other cases, the allegations will unfold in the dynamic environment of a trial court. The outcomes can have a dramatic effect on your life.

When you are charged with this offence, you may feel like no one is willing to listen to your side of the story.

A skilled trial lawyer can mount a sophisticated defence in order to get you the best outcome.

Fraud

Fraud allegations can be complex.

In certain circumstances, it can be difficult for the prosecutor to prove the required mental intention needed to convict.

Whether an individual’s conduct merits a criminal conviction or a civil remedy is an important legal question.

An effective trial lawyer can make all the difference in a case.

Appeals

In certain circumstances, appeals are a necessity in order to protect your rights.

In other circumstances, an appeal would be an unwise investment of your money and time.

A successful appeal can dramatically change your circumstances: from conviction to being given a second chance at a trial or even the ordering of an acquittal.

A successful appeal requires substantial consideration and resolute execution.

A skilled and sophisticated lawyer committed to your case is an essential asset.
